Why do i keep getting this error?

i am recieving the same error in several games which i have installed on my pc, the games are Far Cry, Doom 3 and Quake 4, i want to use no cd files on these games so i can keep the original discs in good condition, but whenever i try and add the no cd files, i recieve the error "access is denied", i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling these games with no success, now with Doom 3, even without modifying the game, i am unable to play the game at all, and with Quake 4, i am unable to remove it completely from my computer as i keep getting th error "access is denied", i have tried disabling all my security software in case it was blocking any changes, i have tried adding the no cd files in Safe Mode, both with no success, i am running Windows XP SP2 and these games have the latest patches installed, i have many other games on my pc of which had no problems adding no cd files to them, hopefully someone out there can help solve my problem.

Copy the Cd's to a .ISO format file on your hard drive (see your DVD burning software for information on how to do this).

Download a program a free program that will let you mount the file so that it appears as a CD drive on the system and should to the program also.

Just search do a web search for something like:

freeware CD ISO mount drive windows xp

I used something - perhaps "ISOBUSTER" - before, but don't remember which one I liked better.

Try one. If you like it, use it. If you don't. De-install it (important step!) download another one and try that one.

Can't you copy the original CD's and use the copies?
