Can a DSL modem with RJ45 connect to a ADSL router with RJ11?
In short I have virgin broadband at my folks house. It is DSL and connects to the modem. The only ouput interface is a ethernet (RJ45). My router is a sky broadband router. Its input WAN port is an modem connector (RJ11).
Now I have seen cables and adaptors that has RJ11 at one side and RJ45 at another.

Now I understand the differance between DSL and ADLS (well roughly).
What I need to know is will these connectors or cables work to succesfully allow me wireless internet from the modem thru my router?
p.s There is also a straight thru 11 - 45 cable.

Well, you can't use an ADSL router (which has a built in modem) to connect to an ethernet connection.
The RJ11 connector on your router is built to connect to a "DSL" line it is not the same thing as an ethernet line at all.
You need a cable/dsl router with an ethernet WAN port.
Sorry but that is just the way routers work! One with a built in modem can not be used with standard ethernet connections and one with an Ethernet WAN port has to have a modem as a separate box in front of it!
So the answer is - you can't convert a phone line input to a computer ethernet input, They are different and do not play well with each other!
