Can a wireless USB adapter be used on a printer?
I have an HP 5850 wireless printer that the wireless died on. I tried connecting it via Ethernet, but either the cable is bad or the entire network component in the printer is shot. It works fine via USB. I'm wondering if I could use a wireless USB adapter and connect it to a USB cable, and see the printer on the network?
You'll need a "Printer Server" network device because ordinary network interface adapters can't "do" the printer protocols needed to manage the printer.
Cheap way out:: Just hook it to a PC via the USB and share the printer...
Best bet: buy a new printer and a service contract...
