USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE combo adapter!!!?
Just brought one as I was told I could retrieve my data from my old hard drive which crashed. I have absolutely NO idea how to use it and would appreciate if anyone knew how or a link to website which would explain step by step with illustrations/ pictures too.

Generally, you cant use an adapter to do that.
The controller on the adapter is EXTREMELY primitive. The best would be a ATA controller on a ASUS motherboard. They are solid, but have loose standards which allow the use of standard which allow it.
Promise controllers are also very good, especially for sata.
USB is not very good with bootable applications.
Most usb to sataide controller are made with chinese garbage, and need you to buy another power adapter, like from lacie, and break it open and transfer the socket over.
I litereally had the smoke and explode.
If you hard drive wasn't the cause of the crash, but some other computer problem, then thats different.
