Directional vs Omni-directional antenna gain?
I want to extend my home network wireless signal to a remote building on my property. I plan to install a high gain antenna on my router. Here is my question: Will a 6dbi directional antenna reach farther than a 6dbi omni-directional antenna?

Assuming you want a single point-to-point connection, then they both have the same theoretical maximum range. If either side of the link has an omni directional antenna, then the antennas on both sides should ideally be at the same elevation.
Directional antennas are much less susceptible to outside interference, so that may be a consideration if there are other access points within range of your link.
