Can I connect to one network for the LAN, but connect to another for internet access?
At work, I am connected to the LAN to access NAS Drives, but the internet offered at work is extremely slow. I have the ability to connect to a secondary network with another network adapter, and I'd like to get internet from it. Is it possible for me to stay connected to the first network, but limit it to only the LAN? And then get internet from only the second network?
Easiest way is to remove the default gateway from the network you don't want internet access from. Requires a manual IP address to make the change.
If your work network has subnets you need to reach they will need static routes.
If your work network has firewalls, intrusion detection, etc. and you do this without talking to their IT people, be prepared to explain why your convenience is more important than the company's security.
