now i bought me a netgear rangemax wpn824 wirless router, when i go to install it it says a cable isnt connected to your hi speed modem, but i dont need the modem according to the guy who makes the biquads, so, do i get a different router or what? how do i set this up to get wifi in my house for my ps3
So how are you getting Wi-Fi on your desktop?
The biquad wifi antenna is attached to your computer through the linksys wireless card, but where is it picking up the WiFi signal from to connect to the Internet?
What is connected to your modem? If your desktop is connected to the modem, then it isn't using the Wi-Fi at all, unless you are trying to get the other devices to connect to the Internet through this desktop computer. (Major security risk to your computer).
The wireless router needs to plug into the modem to connect to the Internet and then send out the wireless signal to allow your computers or PS3 to connect to it.
Plug your router (netgear) into the modem using Ethernet. You should be able to plug the Ethernet currently connected to the modem through the LAN port on the router.
