Can i set up a home WAN server with windows server 2003?
I have a old PC with the following configurations :
Hard Ware :
Mother board - Intel D915GLV
HDD - 500GB
Modem - Data-one WA3002G4
On-board LAN card
Software :
OS - Windows xp pro sp3
Vmware Workstation 7.0.0 build-203739
Guest OS on Vmware - windows server 2003
My guest OS i.e windows server 2003 on the vmware is provided with a Nat (network address translation) network...my internet connection is provided by BSNL ISP (No special connection)....
My basic doubt is can i host websites which i have created on my guest OS and view it on the wan i mean outside my local-area network probably from my friends computer who has a internet from a different ISP.....
you probably need to switch to a bridged connection. hopefully your BSNL connection goes through a router or is a direct DHCP connection to the internet. If so, your guest will pick up its own unique IP once bridged. Assuming BsNL allows that...
