To realize the benefits of CAT 6 network cable over CAT 5e do you have to have any special routers/swiches/NIC
I'm wiring my house right now and I've just decided to go ahead and upgrade to CAT 6 cable. Problem is now I have 10/100 network equipment. Will they see any performance gains?
I do have a wireless n router, but I don't think it's gigabit. I'm mainly worrried about future upgradeabiltiy and also that I've read Cat6 has less noise in the connectors too.
there will also be a problem. the problem is that your router. not all router supports cat6 cable. cat6 cable are mainly for 10/100/1000mbps. if you get a wireless router type n, then that will help. if you going for anything else. i recommend to stick with cat5e. overall as performance cat6 is better than cat5. and you will see a better result in a cat6 cable compare to cat5.
