What is the difference between an IAP and an ISP?
I'd also like some simple and understandable definitions of the following (please note I am NOT an IT person): router, server, modem, linux box, gateway, VPN, LAN, WAN. I will be eternally grateful for the simplest best answers plus of course, 10 points! thanks!
IAP - Internet Access Provider
ISP - Internet Service Provider

Router - A device that forwards data packets along networks.
Server - A computer or device on a network that manages network resources.
Gateway - A node on a network that serves as an entrance to another network.
VPN - Virtual Private Network, a network that is constructed by using public wires to connect nodes.
LAN - Local Area Network, a computer network that spans a relatively small area.
WAN - Wide Area Network, a computer network that spans a relatively large geographical area.
