How do you replace an existing recessed mount medicine cabinet?
I am re doing a bathroom and I have an installed recessed mount medicine cabinet. I would like to replace it with a new one that is the same size (interior) so I don't have to go digging out the walls. How can I measure for the new one? Do I measure the interior of the cabinet? The wall space (hole) after the cabinet is removed? Additionally the measurements on the new cabinets in the store (lowes/home depot) are confusing, can anyone explain what measurements will be on the box, not specifically obviously, but what is represented by the measurements on the new cabinet's box- total area, interior measurements, mirror h/w.... I'm confused...
A couple screws inside the cabinet, and it should pull right out (famous last words). Measure the opening in the wall - should be a standard size that you can find an exact fit for - be sure to check the available depth of the cavity too: some walls are shallow.
