I'm having band with loss with my Cisco WRT54G2 router. Whats the problem?
I can see the difference when downloading an torrent file connected through a router(low speed) and direct to Adsl modem(high speed). upgraded the firmware also same problem. Router is 1 year old and out of warranty. What is the best brand and model that i could buy one more Modem cum router where i wouldn't have band with loss issue. Belkin, Dlink or Netgear?
It's nothing to do with your router at all, other factors could be preventing you from getting high speed or loss of bandwidth. I will type a couple of examples that could make your speed slower on your download:
- Someone could be leeching your Wireless router resources, do you have encryption on your wifi router?
- Is this happening for every torrent file? have you checked that the file itself could have less resources online or less people are seeding it, this will give you slower download speeds. Have you done a speed test and actually established your download speed is up to scratch to the speed it's suppose to be downloading?
- Other factors can actually prevent you from achieving the potential download speed of your type of broadband this will depend for example on how far you are from the exchange. Have a check online how far is the closest exchange to you.
