SMART Status on SATA Hard drive.?
A while back I used to be able to get SMART stats from my two SATA hard drives on XP or Vista. Now with a fresh re-install of Vista and a few hardware changes both SpeedFan and HDD Life Pro say that there are no SMART hard drives. I have the option in the bios set to enabled and they both showed stats before. Also, the SATA drives show up as SCSI in the Properties in Vista. I have read that it is for the hot-swapping feature but I never use that.
Here are my specs that may help with this:
ASUS P5N-SLI
Vista Ultimate 32-bit
120gb Seagate SATA
320gb Western Digital SATA
How do I get the SMART stats?
Thank's for the link. I downloaded it and went to run the setup and I get "Does not support this Operating System : WNT_6.0P_MCE" When I do infact have Vista Ultimate.
quite possibly a chipset or sata driver update that was installed someway before(windows update or factory config)
See the link below for the chipset driver, when you open the "chipset" it's down near bottom
It's possible you may need some component from the "raid" driver even if you are not setting it up to use raid, or even the utility, but I would try the "chipset" driver first
